Publishing Videos On Your Website Or Blog

With the cost of hosting space and bandwidth reducing by the week it has become quite easier to publish videos on your blog or website. Now why would you publish a video? You can make use of a video in many ways; for instance you can publish a video on your blog or website to

  • Greet visitors on your website (although this may spook them)
  • Explain the way you provide your services
  • Explain the way your product can be used
  • Show your visitors something interesting
  • To create a stronger impact
  • To make your website or blog more interactive

And there could be numerous other reasons that justify the publishing of a video on your website or blog.

The simplest way of publishing a video is to upload your video to some video-hosting websites like YouTube or Google Video, fetch the embedding code from there and then copy/paste it into your web page or your blog post. This way you can publish a video in a few minutes without spending much time on formatting etc.

If you are the adventurous-type then you can processed the video on your own using free as well as highly expensive video-editing tools. There are many free-source video editing software available on the Internet but the downside is that support is not easily available and you yourself will have to figure out how to edit and configure your videos. Commercial software such as Adobe Premier and AfterEffects are great tools but you should only go for them if you have long-term video publishing plans.

Whatever software or conversion tools you use just make sure you create the smallest possible videos because if you create very heavy video files you will soon run out of your allocated bandwidth or else incur great costs no matter how cheap bandwidth comes these days.

Again my personal choice would be using YouTube and then embedding the video code into your web page. This way you can organise all your videos under one account and save yourself lots of bandwidth because the video runs on the video-hosting server.

it’s cool to found sites like metacafe dot com. if you place its videos on your own site and if your visitors watch them - you recieve back link from metacafe movie page=)) so small cunning =))

The problem with web sites with video is they download very slowly. Regardless of the speed of the Internet connection, videos slowly download while the rest are already showing. Do you have any solution to this problem?

Hi Family, not in my experience. Sites with video links to YouTube et al do not suffer slow down on load up. For example Problogger

And the other really big benefit is due to the new search verticals, video content is being included in the regular SERP’s so by publishing videos on your site/blog you may recieve another page one listing.

Exactly as SEO Carly said… Video is moving forward quicker than ever within the Internet world and Search Engines are beginning to include Video results. It could mean another page 1 listing… or at least taking another SERP spot from a competitor.

I have also seen some pretty cool videos advertising a sites content and blog. The company has actually left the video on youtube rather than embedding it on it’s own site. They have a decent link pointing back to their site which I am sure has generated a lot of traffic. It’s an interesting option.
