Thanks for the post, really interesting - we are just starting to do article submission ourselves, so this is highly useful information.

I was wondering if anyone knew of any other methods that we could use with our article information once it’s written?

Although article marketing looks a nice strategy at first but i would like to caution that it takes longer to achieve results thru this method. And moreover u need to consistent with this method to work.

Most of the times the quality articles get buried deep on article sites with time resulting in little to no effect for targeted site.

Gary, out of of interest, you say “Among all the SEO techniques, article submission can be one of the most successful.” In todays SEO world are refering to the old-skool article submission sites or are you refering to hosting your content and submitting to the likes of Digg and Reddit?

Like it was mentioned above, article submission services and places like ezine articles are not visited so frequently by readers (mainly submitters) so the results gained from this kind of submission is very low today. Although if you can afford to do this alongside everything else it can’t hurt and can be a part of a healthy mix of PR efforts.

Alternatively, great content hosted on your own site and then submitted to the social media article sites (digg, reddit etc) really can bring in the readership and links. Obviously this is a lot tougher than the old ways of article submission, but much more effective.

Often so called article submission websites are as unvisited as link farms. What I experienced, that posting real articles to news-sites, portals and hi-quality article sites, gives significant traffic and better quality back-links. So, its good to avoid poor-quality article sites.

I like to know if,let’s say 4 articles is enough to drive good traffic for our site. Assuming those articles complies the key points to consider above? Lists are a great way to get produce good articles quickly for this purpose.

It can be hard to keep coming up with quality articles for article directories, I find that producing list like the following are a great way to go. People love lists too!

ten reasons you should…..
eight mistakes to avoid when……
nine ways to make sure your……

etc etc

By the way Gary, I read your SEO report card PDF - great document! Should be required reading for anyone starting out in SEO!
