Short Takes
Been doing my usual round of reading and thought that I would share a couple of blog posts that caught my eye.
- 11 Tips for Appearing at Google Definitions by Esteban Panzera - The post outlines how you can define words in your site and have them appear as a search result in Google definitions. One thing I really love about Google is their definitions feature. Since I started using Google definitions my dictionary has not come out of hiding (in short I misplaced it). There are times though when the search result disappoints me and returns no definition. I usually end up thinking about how to (someday) contribute by adding definitions of terms that still didn’t appear in the results. Of course, I’ve never got around to doing it but this is why I though Esteban Panzera’s post was really cool. In fact the post was cool enough to make it to SEOmoz’s blog from YOUmoz.
- WordPress plugins and SEO mailing list by Joost de Valk - Anyone subscribed to Joost’s feeds knows about this by now but I wasn’t really able to subscribe till today. Expecting lots of good good stuff about Wordpress and SEO from the mailing list. Head over to Joost’s blog to subscribe.
Been reading the news as well and like everyone is keeping track of the latest Yahoo! - MSN news. Here’s a few good links to news stories all with different angles on the issue.
- Microsoft, Yahoo Mull Options In Takeover Battle (Information Week) - Outlines what each of the companies can and might do after the rejection.
- Yahoo’s Purchase of Maven Adds Complexity (New York Times) - Tackles why the new $160 million acquisition made by Yahoo! is a mistake. And though I wouldn’t be posting any links here, since it is all over the net Yahoo! is starting to layoff employees. This recent acquisition I think is like rubbing salt on the wound to those being layed off.
