Search Engine Land has reported that Google has indeed been testing a form of “infinite scroll” for its web search results. While the infinite scroll in the video they show is not really infinite in that you have to click on a “Show more results” link once you get to the bottom of the page, it might change things for websites whose links are relegated to the 2nd page and beyond since it could mean faster access to the once “next page” results.

Hopefully this will mean a higher click-through rates for URLs on those links, but until the new functionality goes live we won’t really be able to draw any real conclusions. In the meantime, we just have to content ourselves with knowing that first page is still the page you want to be on.
