How’s Your Site Doing in Yahoo?

Last week Yahoo! announced that they have been making changes on their indexing and ranking algorithms warning everyone to keep a close eye on the effects on their own site’s rankings. It’s been more than a week and I wonder if you have noticed any changes in your site’s ranking in Yahoo. I realised that I haven’t checked with Gary how we’ve been doing.

A reminder to everyone: Though Google is great do not be overly focused on Google and neglect your status in the other major search engines (Yahoo!, Ask, and MSN Search). The traffic from these three are still considerable and traffic is still traffic.

Note too that if you have a client with paid directories or if you submit to paid directories don’t forget on these directories’ status with Google because there have been reports of manual penalisation of paid directories around September last year. I wonder what this year holds in terms of search engines weeding out sites that they deem are not that desirable.

I agree with you.. We shouldn’t just focus on Google. Ranking on major search engines would be great than just on Google… As for the changes, I didn’t see any changes on my site with regards to the rankings, but as for the indexed and backlinks, I guess a little changes occur… 🙂 Nice article Sir…

Its true that most people forget about other search engines like yahoo, msn etc. Its google that always strike first but important that we really dont miss up with others.

Yeah I wish I took your advice… I can’t ever seem to care about Yahoo and MSN. I’ve known that traffic is traffic but for some reason I don’t track MSN and Yahoo rankings and couldn’t tell you if my rankings have improved (without looking at the stats from analytics).

My site is good. I believe yahoo is the most used search engine and often used as default page compared to others because of being general.

Yahoo seems to be so much easier to crack than Google. I have all 5 of my sites on P1 for Yahoo for the main search terms. All of which have good content & kwd, but I believe the most important factor is that they are listed in Yahoo Directory. I know its $299 a year per site, but its a small price to pay to be almost guaranteed P1 as long as you have the other factors right.

Comparing yahoo and google is totally different because google filter all the back links while yahoo easily put up all the back links that you do as a part of link building task. Most user prefer to use google because of an accurate result of what they’re looking for or searching for by the use of google search but I also consider yahoo as a great source of traffic because lot of my back links are still visible on yahoo
